In the United States, more than 22 million people are known to have asthma. AsthmaNet is a nationwide clinical research network created by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI).
The purpose of AsthmatNet is to develop and conduct multiple clinical trials that explore new approaches in treating asthma from childhood through adulthood.
AsthmaNet studies are being conducted in 13 states all over USA and they use a customized version of MIR Spirotel® for collecting data.
MIR worked at 10 different projects on clinical trials of new drugs that required a spirometer with interactive questionnaire, to be used in 30 countries with 25 different languages.
In one of the last projects, a new portable instrument was developed, wich could be connected to a web server with Oracle Database.
The device is currently used by about 4000 patients managed by 250 doctors working in 14 countries.
