ATS Standards

The LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City (Utah) is the only recognised institution in the World
for testing that a spirometer conforms to the latest ATS (American Thoracic Society) accuracy standards. The current standard is the ATS-ERS 2005 Update.

The testing is carried out under the supervision of Dr R Crapo, who is one of the leading world authorities responsible for the ATS standards for spirometry performance.

Many manufacturers of spirometers claim that their devices meet the ATS standards, whereas this may be simply a self-declaration that the performance of their devices follow the ATS guidelines.

This does not necessarily mean that they also conform to the ATS accuracy standards, which can only be demonstrated with the confirmation letter supplied by the LDS Hospital.

MIR has received the confirmation letters from Dr R Crapo of the LDS Hospital that the MIR diagnostic spirometers have passed this stringent testing procedure.

We manage to ensure the calibration long term accuracy and readings reliability of our instruments using Pulmonary Waveform Generators as integral part of our production and quality check.
